Grilling Season is upon us. Rejoice and let's get things Fired Up!

Cedar Plank Salmon or Baby Back Ribs and Chicken. What's your dinner going to be?

Home-Made-Easy Barbecue sauce that is sure to be a hit

It's terrible to think that when you spend hours cooking meat on the grill (or smoker) and the first thing anyone will taste is a barbecue sauce from a bottle. Let's change that.

Red Wine Barbecue Sauce

1 bottle (750ml) California Zinfandel

1 cup dark brown sugar

1 teaspoon liquid smoke

2 cups ketchup

Optional: 1-2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar to adjust acid level

In a shallow saucepan, heat wine to a rolling boil to reduce volume by 50%

Lower temp to lowest setting and incorporate brown sugar, liquid smoke and ketchup.

Stir repeatedly until all ingredients are well incorporated and simmer for 2 minutes

Taste and adjust with balsamic vinegar as needed.

It's really that simple. If you use a wine that is in the $8 range, you can have a quart of great tasting home-made-easy barbecue sauce for about $10.
